Should you Blog or Should you start a Podcast?


Posting on Facebook or writing blogs or recording a podcast - each one adds another thing to do to market yourself. But, the more backlinks to your business website, the better. Podcasting is another Social Media channel to tell your story. You can distribute your new ideas and your newest blog, using your voice!

Five percent of the American population listens to podcast and 25% of the time that they are listening to audio, they listen to a podcast. Smart phones are always in your audiences pocket, unlike a computer and they all have a way of listening to audio - and your audience can listen to you on the way to work or while working out.

You'll need to invest in a good microphone and start taping seminars or interviews on Skype for distribution. Audio editing software Audacity (free) and upload your feed to the most popular service, iTunes, for finding your biggest audience.

What to Podcast about?

  • Discuss things that you are passionate about

  • Title each article or Podcast a name that is memorable and descriptive

  • Record and write blogs, on a routine basis. Record often enough to keep the interest of your audience, but not too often so that you won't be able to come up with interesting content

  • Choose a shorter length so it isn't rambling or repetitive

  • Introduce the topic, go into your discussion, and then conclude with main point of the article.

  • Then promote on all your social-media channels.

  • Ask your audience what they think.

  • Ask your listeners to write reviews, on iTunes, so potential listeners can find you.

  • Consider writing a blog post and so you have the podcast content in two formats - audio and written.
