Best Western Goes Mexican

Taqueria Maria Bonita VA has been opened for two years. It is in the Home Depot parking lot, on Mooretown Road. Guadalupe Arreola moved to the United States from Mexico City – bringing her mother and their fabulous authentic recipes with them. Mama Guadalupe makes all the sauces, each day and daughter Guadalupe runs the restaurant, doing the hiring, training and the public relations. They opened a second restaurant – YOU GUESSED IT – in a pandemic. Timing is something but the work ethic of this family is everything…and this family is marketing and delivering excellence, in both restaurants.

In June of 2020, during COVID-19 Phase 2, Taqueria Maria Bonita VA opened another location – this one is across from Colonial Williamsburg’s horse pasture on York Street at the Best Western Historic Area. With a gracious, covered patio and plenty of indoor seating for social distancing, they offer their full menu and homemade desserts, daily – they are also offering Cotton Candy to reward the kiddo for eating a healthy dinner. I don’t know about you, but Mexican food has never been something I had to entice my children to eat. I have also NEVER had to beg my kids to give a Mexican sit-down restaurant a chance. My family (loud, messy, and never-sit-in-your-seat boys) has always been welcomed and smiled at in any Mexican restaurant – children are celebrated in that culture. And my kids love ALL of the food. BONUS! So, don’t be shy about bringing your kids to check out Taqueria Maria Bonita! All kid’s menu items are under $5 and include a drink (juice or fountain drink) and they of course include Chicken Fingers for the truly picky eater!

Best Western (best rates in town and across from the Colonial Williamsburg horse pasture - 2 blocks from all the fun!) has an indoor pool and boasts an amazing location across from Colonial Williamsburg and when they are able to offer a breakfast buffet (later in Phase 3), Taqueria Maria Bonita will offer a breakfast buffet with eggs and fruit and Mexican specialties – think salsa and breakfast burritos and Huevos Rancheros. If you aren’t quite ready to visit a restaurant’s dining room, both locations offer ToGo and both locations offer patio seating.
