Who is your ideal customer?

Who is your ideal customer?

Don't say "anyone" or "everyone," - because if that is your answer, you NEED to read this!

While it’s tempting to think that everyone needs your product or service, in reality you really make more money off of some, using less hours and less stress. THOSE are your best customers. Don't TRY to serve everyone, chose the best fit -- as the products and services you sell won't fit EVERYONE -

What specific problem are you trying to solve? Serve a family breakfast. Create a fun birthday party? Or sell your services to women over 40? Figuring out who your ideal customer has is the first step in defining who you serve.

Here are some basic questions to ask yourself:

  • Gender

  • Age

  • Location

  • Average Income

  • Level of Education

Then ask some basic questions of your current customers:

  • How did they find you?

  • Ask what their key problems were, when they hired you.

Listen to those that have already found your channels:

  • Use your reviews! Read them and figure out why people liked your style, your service and what stood out to them.

  • Look at your social media analytics - check out Facebook's page Insights to see your audience demographics and when you get the best reach or engagement (pssst. Do that more!!)

Check out what your competitors say and do and serve:

  • I get wonderfully inspired by those I follow, by the way, this is a good hint! Don't use this to feel badly about yourself - get inspired to do something different or a different way to use your keywords.

  • Look at the competitor's marketing techniques - who are THEY trying to reach?

Now, you've gathered all this data - now create BOOSTED posts that center around this criteria. Small Business owner - Sole Proprietor - Woman - Family-friendly business. BOOM - that is my target -- what is yours?

After you figure out who that person is, create content that helps solve your ideal client's biggest problem and create products that solve their problems. Need more coaching? Social Media Simplifier does that, too!
