Get Engaged!

As you know, I will tout using two Social Media Channels - only. Unless you have a marketing department or a chain. I choose Pinterest and Facebook, Blogging and LinkedIn, Facebook and Blogging, Blogging and Instagram, YouTube and Instagram - just choose 2 social media channels and post consistently - 7 days a week - all times of day and night until you get a following. But....what to post on social media so you get engagement?

You want likes, and you want sales and you want donations - right? You just want it all! LOL. So do I - promise! But, social media is not a short-term game. It takes time and commitment as well as a specific goal in mind. My goals usually reach out 3-6 months and include these steps:

  • Complete Profile – Always my first step - filling out all profiles and linking back to a real website that has a call-to-action. I use keywords that are directed to my audience (or my target audience) as well as search engines would use to find your business. I always try to show the manager's or owner's or brand's personality, link to their other channels and give contact information, easily!

  • Quality Content – I always make sure that my posts have relevancy to the audience and gives the follower a reason to look, again, tomorrow!

  • Play the Long Game – marketing results don’t happen overnight. It can take months of consistent and focused activity to get the outcomes that I want (or my clients want). Don’t expect it to happen straight away.

  • Engage Influencers – talk to your frequent LIKERS and ask them questions. Getting their attention (in a good way) will help increase your influence, also!

  • Avoid Time Wasters – When you get on social media to post, it’s very tempting to start looking at memes, talk to your friends and family, play Candy Crush, and pretend you’re working.

  • Do Unto Others – If you want people to comment and share your information, be sure that you do the same for other people. The best course of action is if someone markets to your same audience but is not direct competition. Work together to promote each other.

  • Pay for Promotion – When you are trying to get a more likes, followers or newsletter sign-ups, look into the possibility of paying for promotion. On Facebook you can pay to promote particular posts ( I usually wait until an engaged with post).

  • Add Value – Don’t just like and tweet things without adding something to the conversation that is important. The more value you can add to social media discussions, the more people will want to follow and like you.

Using social media to promote your business is a great way to get more visitors to your website and make more sales. But, you have to be willing to be committed to taking the time to do what it takes to reach your goals. Avoid pretending to “work” on social media while you’re really just socializing. Set specific goals, develop tactics to reach the goals, and you will be successful. If you need help, SMSimplifier can. Fill out our contact form or look at our pricing - let's talk!
