How does the gift of a clean home to a cancer patient change lives? Because by cleaning the home of a cancer patient, it blesses four people:
I, Maxine Goins, am a survivor. I have an amazing family and an amazing support system. I had many people praying for me and caring for me. Although I slept walked through my life for more than a year, I do remember the love that surrounded me. My children were fed, my errands done and my home was cleaned. Angels. I was literally surrounded by angels.
Not everyone has that support system. Not everyone can ask for help when they are weakened by the devil called "Cancer." Women have been asked, by this busy world, to be Super Women, Super Mom and wear ALL the hats of the home. It can be really difficult to just yell, "Uncle! I need help."
The women that nominates their friend or their aunt cries when I speak to her. She feels guilty that she cannot "do" something for her friend who is under such duress. She cannot take this horrible Devil "Cancer" from her.
The maid that cleans the woman's home walks tenderly in, head bowed at the woman's courage, her fight and her situation. Often, the house cleaner will inquire if I have heard anything about So-and-So. They wish they could go back and bless that woman, again. Often, we share tears.
So, now you know, cleaning the home of a cancer patient blesses four people: Me for paying it forward, My Employee for allowing her to serve a weakened hero, The Patient and the Friend Who Nominates her. Maybe especially her. She feels like she helped, she offered something tangible. For a moment, she felt like an angel. Do you know someone who needs an angel? We'd love to bless her.
