During your first visit, Peninsula Pediatric Dentistry will review your dental and medical history forms, and take X-rays of your child's teeth and mouth. Then one of the doctors will meet with you to discuss your X-rays, help create your child's own individual treatment plan, and answer any questions that you may have. At the second visit, after your child has had a positive experience and has met the staff and has visited the office, a hygienist will clean and polish his or her teeth, and inspect teeth and gums for any cavities or early signs of tooth decay or gingivitis. After that, expect semi-annual visits. The American Dental Association recommends a visit to your dentist every six months for regular checkups and routine teeth cleanings to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
