Using Canva for Pinterest and Facebook graphics

Here is a great graphics (FREE) tool to create engaging visuals to share on your social profiles. This will serve as a quick guide in Canva's basics.

If you are designing a custom Pin, a Cover page for Facebook, or a graphic for a newsletter - start with Canva. Even if you have no skills at all, because the tool is that simple.

Step One: Register (with your email or Facebook account) at www.canva.com

Step Two: Choose a pre-made layout to design a Facebook cover graphic that complements your profile photo, as a first run. Or try to develope a square design perfect for your social posts or Facebook Profile picture. I keep a handy cheat sheet for Profile and Cover photo's dementions, but you don't need to do that, if you use Canva - they have the precise recommended dimensions, and let you create stunning designs to fit just any need on each of those social websites.

Step Three: Select an image from Canva’s vast catalog of stock photos (for $1 per photo), or upload your own original work of art, for free.

Step Four: Export design (as an image or PDF) Why a PDF - interestingly enough, you can hyperlink any of the elements in the graphic to relevant pages on your website and blog. HUGE!!

Step Five: If you are colaboarting as a team, share a link to your unique creation with your colleagues (or clients, for a preview before final) making the communication a lot easier than going back and forth via email.

This free tool is well worth the learning curve - as there is very little. Want to have a second class? Visit Canva’s tutorials.
